“Illusion is the first of all pleasures.”

Oscar Wilde
1854-1900

“Nothing happens unless first we dream.”

Carl Sandburg
1878-1967

Welcome to my virtual home, an illusionary haven created through the magic of 21st century technology. With the web, writers reach out to touch the world with our ideas. For me there’s an irony in using this wonder to publicize my stories of old, a strange crossing in time as if I’d dropped a cell phone or an i-Pod into my post-Civil War heroine’s hand. Many of my characters would be mystified by the concept of this vast invisible internet circling our planet. Still, I believe they would understand my welcome. I trust you will too.

I write of times and peoples past. My stories are set in the midst of the 19th and early 20th centuries, a time when humanity teetered on the edge of great changes. The people I write about are not presidents or kings. Most are just ordinary people struggling against extraordinary events to achieve their dreams. Sometimes a bit of mystique slips in, as it tends to do.

I write historical romantic suspense. To me romance is a vital part of life, and so is suspense. Both keep the heart thumping. So here’s to keeping your heart thumping in this strange new world of today, as I introduce you to tales set in a slightly older era. I hope you enjoy your visit.
